The Saskatchewan Chamber of Commerce is a voluntary organization comprising business and professional men and women who have joined together for the purpose of promoting the civic, commercial, and industrial progress of their community.
We will achieve our vision using the following strategies:
- Effectively communicating the views of our members on business issues to government and Saskatchewan people to improve the competitiveness of Saskatchewan’s economy
- Promoting sustainable economic development based upon economic competitiveness, sound environmental practices, and social responsibility
- Celebrating the successes of Saskatchewan business
- Identifying and providing benefits and services to our members
- Promoting and supporting strong Community Chambers of Commerce and Boards of Trade
- Educating youth and the community on the values and processes of the competitive enterprise system
The Saskatchewan Chamber of Commerce is a provincial federation of Chambers of Commerce and Boards of Trade. In addition, the Chamber’s membership includes individual business firms, comprising all sizes and types of enterprise across the province, and a number of provincial business and professional associations.
Traditionally, the Saskatchewan Chamber of Commerce works with the federation of local Chambers throughout the province, approximately 82 organizations, and with the Canadian Chamber of Commerce at the national level.
Representing a broad spectrum of community life in Saskatchewan, the Saskatchewan Chamber is uniquely equipped to develop policies that accurately reflect the views of community and business leaders in the interest of all society.
Key Principles of the Saskatchewan Chamber of Commerce
1) We support the free exchange of goods and opinions in open markets, and the right to associate and make contracts to advance these.
2) We support democratic government and the right of each person and legal entity to liberty and equality before the law.
3) We believe in a balanced, competitive and fair labour relations climate for the province of Saskatchewan.
4) We support clear, concise and evidence-based regulations for business.
5) We promote economic development and the growth of the private sector in the province for increased wealth creation.
6) We support simplicity, clarity and accountability in taxation, using a regime that encourages the efficient use of resources.
7) We support the establishment of a provincial policy framework that supports entrepreneurism and capital investments.
8) We seek increased accountability, transparency and cost effectiveness in provincial government expenditures.
9) We support enhanced participation by the business community in the education, training, and regulatory systems for the establishment of a work-ready workforce.
10) We are unbiased, fact-based with a clear priority on business issues.
11) We will be and be seen as a respected and accurate advocate for business by business.
