The ABEX Awards recognize that Saskatchewan is rich in stories of business successes. Even in challenging times, Saskatchewan has countless businesses worthy of recognition in every community in the province. In 1984, the Saskatchewan Chamber of Commerce introduced the ABEX Awards to honour outstanding achievements in business excellence. Businesses are eligible to enter in as many of the following categories as they wish. The awards have gained prominence as the most highly esteemed symbols of business excellence in this province. The ABEX awards highlight pivotal business elements of provincial prosperity and are the only business award that honours all private sector enterprises in Saskatchewan regardless of size and economic activity. Service The Achievement for Business Excellence Award for Service goes to a business demonstrating exceptional performance in providing quality customer service (wholesale and retail trade, purchasing and distribution,
 transportation, brokering, professional services, communications, financial, etc.). New Saskatchewan Product The Achievement for Business Excellence Award for TIA New Saskatchewan Product goes to a business demonstrating exceptional performance in launching a new Saskatchewan-made product, technology or service, which is original and has good commercial potential. Growth and Expansion The Achievement for Business Excellence Award for Growth and Expansion is given to a business that has made significant changes in their business resulting in "Growth" or "Expansion". Changes may relate to job creation and/or investment. Sponsored by PFM Capital Inc. New VentureThe Achievement for Business Excellence Award for New Venture goes to a new business venture which has been in existence for 3 years or less and which has shown positive performance in terms of current or expected profitability, job creation and/or entry into new markets. Environment The Achievement for Business Excellence Award for Environment goes to a business that demonstrates excellence in the development of innovative programs, products and/or services offering improvement for environmental purposes. Improvements may relate to soil, air, water, noise or visual pollutants, or energy conservation. Sponsored by SaskWater
Community Involvement  The Achievement for Business Excellence Award for Community Involvement goes to a business demonstrating exceptional performance in its support of the arts and culture, amateur sports, education, healthcare or voluntary groups. Health Innovation The Achievement for Business Excellence Award for the Health Innovation will be presented to a Saskatchewan business who demonstrates excellence in the provision of health services, medical technology or the creation of products or services used by the health/medical sector in Saskatchewan or around the world. Exports The Achievement for Business Excellence Award for Exports goes to the business demonstrating exceptional performance in exporting Saskatchewan goods or services nationally or internationally. Business Leader of the YearThe Achievement for Business Excellence Award for Business Leader of the Year is awarded to an individual who exemplifies the qualities of the business visionary. This person has shown outstanding success in business or industry through the development of a new process, product or service or for meaningful contributions to the local business community. Sponsored by Viterra Young Entrepreneur of the Year The Achievement for Business Excellence Award for Young Entrepreneur of the Year is awarded to an entrepreneur between the ages of 18-35 who has achieved success in the start-up and operation of a new or existing business. Eligible candidates must offer a product and/or service; have served at least ten customers; have long-term goals, as well as strategies to meet those goals; and, have demonstrated innovation by adapting to market place challenges resulting in a competitive advantage. Aboriginal Business Partnership The Achievement for Business Excellence Award for Aboriginal Business Partnership is present ed to a business or individual who has demonstrated leadership and commitment to the growth of Aboriginal business(es) in Saskatchewan. In addition, all entrants are eligible for the honour of being awarded the Saskatchewan Business of the Year. Winners are announced at a gala ABEX Awards Ceremony which brings together the leading figures from the provincial business community and is a prominent showcase for the quality of private enterprise in Saskatchewan.
